The design principle behind the Nhi bookcase seeks to explore the interaction of two opposing materials. Timber as a natural product, adds warmth and depth while the industrial metal represents structure and strength. The conscious choice of design forms further distinguishes the two materials. This was achieved by specifying industrial metal as the vertical element and natural timber as shelving; the horizontal element of the design that appears to float in between the metal structures.
