Project Description

This built-in bookcase was commissioned with the purpose of converting a bedroom into a reading and music room. An existing built-in wardrobe was removed to make way for the low buffet and bookcase hutch to house various books and record collections. A finish in trembesi veneer was chosen to compliment the solid green, feature wall of the room.

The bookcase is inserted into the wall cavity with its top recessed from the edge of the wall. This allows for the downlights to shine right in between the columns and provides a more dramatic lighting effect to both the joinery piece and the room.

The buffet that sits underneath the bookcase is designed to house record collections, while the drawers at the bottom of the buffet hides various items, allowing the open shelves to be clutter free.
